Sunday Service

During Eastertide for the last couple years, I have taken one Sunday to lift up Jesus' "Farewell Discourse" in the Gospel of John. Technically this discourse happens before Jesus is arrested in John 14-17. But it strikes me as especially meaningful for us during Eastertide before Jesus ascends. In that spirit we are going to explore a passage you ask me a lot about- and that is the "In God's House are Many Mansions" scripture in John 14 - that you are probably most used to hearing at funerals. But this scripture is not just about heaven and the afterlife. It's also about the nature of consciousness, and what we are called to be doing in the here and now.  This scripture also contains the greatly abused and misused statement from Jesus, "I am the way, the truth, and the Life. And no one can come to the Father except through me."  We will open our hearts to all of these complexities with particular attention to the Greek words Moné/Meno μονή, ῆς, ἡ (mon-ay'or meen-o/Greek) (dwelling-place) and  Eimi: εἰμί (eimi/Greek) (I exist, I am). Join us this Sunday as we wrestle with our calling to "Abide/Dwell in the House of God (Forever and in the Present Moment)" I look forward to being with you in our virtual dwelling-place/sanctuary on Zoom. -Rev. Jeanne
