Sunday Service

Through the darkness of Advent, and into Epiphany, light guides our way on our journey. But on this last (Official) Sunday of Epiphany (Transfiguration Sunday), I thought it would be interesting for us to talk about the shadow side of light. (Yes. Really.) Too much light can be disorienting and scary. Case in point (Matthew 17:1-8)  Matthew's account of Jesus' transfiguration on the side of the mountain that leaves Peter disoriented and babbling. Marianne Williamson suggests that it is not darkness, but our own and God's light that we are really afraid of. Is this true? Come join us this Sunday as we share Holy Communion and explore the decentering and disorientation that can come when we deeply encounter the Light. -Rev. Jeanne
