Sunday Service

This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. The word Advent comes from the Latin Adventus (Translated from the Greek: Parousia) which means "appearance or coming."  As Jan Richardson rightly suggests, "Advent is a Threshold." It is a threshold where  "We stand In the presence of our God" (Psalm 84) and prepare ourselves for the paradoxical calling of waiting and preparing to give birth to the light of Christ on Christmas, while noticing the millions of ways "Emmanuel God With Us" is already here. Join us during this liturgically rich Advent for an exploration of Light, Darkness, Waiting, Pondering, and Thresholds. Don't forget to bring your Threshold photos for our Advent reflection board, or to pause and receive an Advent blessing on our sanctuary threshold as you come in for worship. We look forward to giving birth of the light of Christ with you! -Rev. Jeanne
